I pre-ordered "Over In the Forest" the author's newest book based on the title, and author. I was not disappointed, the story flows, little children can quickly learn to partici-pate.The illustrations are wonderful and each page has a hidden animal. As always the author included science ideas for extending the book. The Illustrator also explains the techniques she used to create the pictures in the book.

I love this book!
We used it with our Nature Nurtures kids a few weeks ago. Given the feed back from the kids, this will be the first book we use on our Reading Trail. We plan to hide concrete animals highlighted in this story in the Children's Discovery Forest. So that as the public walks the read-along-trail, they can see the animals in the habitat.
Our copy of the book stays at the job and want one to read to my little guys at home.

Hi. I just wanted to say that I love your books. When I read them to the students during my programs at the nature center, they are so engaged, sing a long with it, and really enjoy it. I also set up a reading station during longer programs and camps and "Over in the Forest" and "Over in the Artic" are among the most popular books the children read. Thanks for the great books.

I will be sharing this book at a Project Learning Tree Workshop this coming weekend. My 3 year old and I love this book! We're not quite so fond of the "musky mother skunk and her little kits nine" though. We just had a real skunk spray our dog last week. :)

Three to eight year olds may sing their way through the woods, following animal tracks in and out of animal homes, having fun, counting along the way. What a great way to introduce new vocabulary describing baby animals and animal movement. Children want to "act out" the animals as they visit each habitat. A search for hidden animals brings the reader back into the habitat for a closer look to sharpen the senses. Teachers and parents will find the book ideal for libraries, schools, and family time learning, and enjoying reading together. I think that "Over in the Forest" is an exceptional book, integrating life science with early literacy. The added resources such as hidden animals is creative and fun as a wildlife 'hunt.' For early childhood the lyrical storyline is fun. I love the artist's design overlaying paper. It creates an almost 3-D image and the pages sort of spring to life. I will use this with our early childhood program called Growing up WILD. I am the New Mexico co-coordinator for Project WILD. Thanks for a terrific book!

Mrs. Berkes,
It was an honor to meet you today. I am very glad my 8yr old daughter got to meet an awesome writer, and a down to earth person. She loves to read, and has already read all the books we purchased today. It would be amazing to get a copy of your "over" series. We bought two today as well.
Thank you for a wonderful and enjoyable experience.

Your books are all WONDERFUL!!! This year--again--all my kindergarten children have been exposed to all your books in story time in the media center. The children you saw last year during your school visit know exactly where to find your books. Even the catchy tunes are "earworms" in our brain! One k child came up a few weeks ago looking for one of the books---'Mrs. S--you know the book we all sang? The one about the sea? Where is it??" It was Over in the Ocean! Thanks for writing books that make children discover, think and learn. You are special, my friend.
